Removals in Harrow, Pinner, Stanmore, Hatch End, Queensbury and Cannons Park

Author: Michael Ilyas

Harrow is a major town and the administrative centre for the London Borough of Harrow which lies in the north west of London and is widely known for Harrow School attended by Sir Winston Churchill the first Prime Minister of India Nehru. The Harrow borough neighbours the borough of Hillingdon which is on the edge of Heathrow Airport. Its major towns are Harrow itself, Harrow on the Hill, Harrow Weald, Pinner, Stanmore, Hatch End, Queensbury, Rayners Lane, Roxeth, Belmonte and Cannons Park. Due to its close proximity to the airport, cargo, distribution and removal activities can be money spinners.

The borough is served well by public transport, London Underground and has a good network of road system. The major motorway in the country M1 connects this borough to the Midlands and the North of England and Scotland. This represents an excellent setting ground for transport and removal companies in Harrow itself, Harrow on the Hill, Harrow Weald, Pinner, Stanmore, Hatch End, Queensbury, Rayners Lane, Roxeth, Belmonte and Cannons Park.

Harrow is only approximately 12 miles from the Central London and very close to Heathrow. It is, therefore, an attractive proposition for the working population to move in and out. For this reason alone, a good presence of removal companies can have very good business foundations and potentially can open removal companies in Harrow itself, Harrow on the Hill, Harrow Weald, Pinner, Stanmore, Hatch End, Queensbury, Rayners Lane, Roxeth, Belmonte and Cannons Park.

The other contributory factor for setting a transport or a removal company is the close proximity of one of the main trunk road A40 which becomes M40 and leads to Birmingham and the West Midlands. Any of the small town from the list (Harrow on the Hill, Harrow Weald, Pinner, Stanmore, Hatch End, Queensbury, Rayners Lane, Roxeth, Belmonte and Cannons Park) can be selected to set up the transport and removal company.

The borough location on and near the green belt and easy access to central London, 20 minutes by train, makes Harrow an excellent live for families and affluent singles. Continuously climbing rising property prices in all London areas have helped to see a large increase in property redevelopment of its existing housing stock, which in turn is attracting new residents looking for a clean, safe, and greener environment to live in, close to central London, which is indeed an ideal scenario for removal companies to thrive upon. No wonder people like Sir Elton John, the late Ronnie Barker, the astronomer Patrick Moore lived and Sir Winston Churchill went to school.

An on-line removal service company known as The Removal.com is a UK based provider of free comparison quotations for not only moving within the UK but also internationally. There are very simple steps to follow to get multiple quotes from removal companies.

1. Log into TheRemoval.com website

2. Enter as much details as possible and submit via the website. Quotations from removal companies are virtually worked out using the information you had submitted

3. Email quotation are sent from selected removal companies in the areas mentioned above

Lego Star Wars Review Set 7675 At-Te Walker

Author: Inger Fountain

The Star Wars Lego set 7675, the AT-TE walker is the second time Lego has produced this particular star Wars vehicle. The first version, set 4482, came out in 2003 a year after the release of Star Wars Episode Two Attack Of The Clones. It is featured in that movie and in the Star Wars Clone Wars television series, from which this latest Lego incarnation of the vehicle has been taken.

The All Terrain Tactical Enforcer is a walker that was developed to support the Grand Army of the republic and became the precursor to later walkers including the AT-AT. Lego's version of the walker is impressive and comes with a STAP vehicle that the separatist battle droids rode in the Clone Wars movie to battle AT-TE walkers on Teth.

The walker model measures 15'½" (39cm) long and 8" (20cm) high and playable features include positionable legs that spring back to position, movable cannons, firing missiles, armored hatches and cockpit that open to reveal the cabin and troop bay inside.

The top panels lift up and troopers can sit inside while the cockpit can be opened to place in a single figure. Another gunner can sit on the top to rotate the cannon and behind him there is a small handle that can be used to pick up the vehicle or attach it to the Dropship (set 10195).

The minifigures include Anakin Skywalker and his padawan Ahsoka Tano, Jabba The Hutt's son Rotta, Clone Captain Rex, a regular clone and a battle droid. The Commander Rex is exclusive and has not appeared in a set since.

While not quite as playable as the Republic Gunship it has a lot of character and young fans will enjoy replicating the scenes from the TV series. It looks good as a display model and will fit well into battle scenes and dioramas.

Canon Imageclass Mf8180C - Color Laser With Networking

Author: QuickShip.com

When monochrome laser printing isn't enough for your business demands, but inkjet technology can't provide enough output, consider a color laser multifunction center such as the Canon imageCLASS MF8180C. The additional cost is great when compared with black and white units, as is the overall size and weight, but if your business demands a color printer with a huge duty cycle, color laser is the only way to go.

It is only recently that color laser technology has come down in price enough to be considered for small offices or even home use. The Canon imageCLASS MF8180C was one of the first printers to achieve that feat. Running at a clean 20 pages per minute in black and white, and 4 pages per minute in color, the unit is considerably fast. More notably though is the actual print quality. With monochrome or color laser output of up to 2400 x 600 dots per inch resolution, not only will your text come out clean, but color charts, graphs, and even images will too.

Other resolutions include 1200 x 2400 dot per inch scan resolution in a brilliant 48 bit color depth, and fax quality at up to 406 x 391 dots per inch. The document glass itself is only letter sized, so single pass scans of media other than standard sized paper is limited. However, thanks to a 50 sheet automatic document feeder, legal sized paper can be scanned mechanically.

A Super G3 33.6 kbps modem keeps scans moving quickly. Unfortunately, faxes are limited to black and white. 19 one touch speed dial buttons dedicated on the control panel allow for immediate auto dialing to multiple locations, and 100 additional coded dials can be programmed into the system's phone book, and scrolled through via the LCD display.

PC fax is also an implemented feature in the Canon imageCLASS MF8180C; however, it is restricted to sent faxes only. Incoming faxes will have to be received at the machine itself. A fax/telephone auto switch mode is also selectable, along with a fax only manual, answering machine, and DRPD option.

First copy time suffers drastically with the unit, with monochrome at less than 22 seconds, and color at an amazingly slow 46 seconds. A toner save mode will help use less ink with little visible quality loss, making toner changes less frequent, which can be key with a color laser, as they operate on a four cartridge system. Other copy features include zoom resizing, with reduction and enlargement ratios ranging from 50 % up to 200 % in single percentage increments. Canon has also programmed five preset zoom increments for faster use.

An internal network card allows your entire office to link up to the hardware and gain access to the unique power and look of color documents, or, if your business doesn't operate on a network, a USB 2.0 hi speed port is also included. Though the unit is Energy Star certified, power consumption is still set at a very high 1100W max with a 5W energy saver mode. That being said, the Canon imageCLASS MF8180C may be worth the extra cost per page.

Cannon Downriggers

Author: Tank Depot

Today's Cannon Downriggers come straight from the factory built with a rugged combination of advanced electronics and durable mechanical engineering.

Whether you are spending a quiet Georgia afternoon on the bass lake trolling with a Cannon mini-troll manual downrigger, fishing the Great Lakes for salmon and pike with a Magnum 10, or heading out from Oxnard to hunt for Halibut with a Cannon Digi-Troll IV, Mag 20 DT, or UniTroll 5, Canon has the downrigger to put your lure right where the fish are and maximum your chances of putting the fish in the boat where you are.

Cannon's latest breakthrough in downrigger technology came with the integration of Positive Ion Controla,¢ (PIC) into the downrigger cable. Boats and cables create electrical charges in the water than are highly unstable and will repel fish if the charge is either a strong positive or strong negative. Cannon engineers went to work on the problem, developing PIC technology to send a controlled, slight positive charge from the downrigger into the cable itself. This lower positive charge is exactly what you need to attract fish, so not only do you eliminate the risk of spooking the fish with your equipment, you can actually attract them with a Cannon downrigger.

The new Digi-Trolla,¢ IV and the Mag 20 both come equipped with PIC and offer the added value of full adjustability so you can the voltage specific to different species of fish you are pursuing.

Have you ever had the brilliant idea of fishing just above the bottom with a downrigger, only to realize that the bottom did not shape itself millions of years ago to perfectly accommodate your plans? All of us have faced the sad reality that even the best laid plans of fishermen sometimes need more adjustment than a rod and lure change.

Cannon once again went to the drawing board to develop countermeasures to this problem. Today's new downriggers, such as the Digi Troll IV, come equipped with Cannon's exclusive Bottom Tracking feature that tracks the position of the bottom and automatically adjusts the weight to the precise distance you set. Up to four of these Cannon downriggers can "slave" in tandem behind a "master" downrigger connected to a transducer. The logic relays in each unit will then control lure placement at multiple depths, allowing you to hit not only close to the bottom, but also at mid-depths and even surface level when trolling offshore for multiple species of fish.

Cannon downriggers also have developed new safety and convenience features never before available to anglers. In the past, anglers who hooked into extremely large fish also had to fight their downriggers along with their catch to get the cable and weight out of the way before the four-hour fight could begin. This can be a bit difficult with a marlin as old as the United States, or a shark the size of your boat.

Cannon downriggers with new Soft Stop technology handle the downrigger for you while you handle the beast in the sea. Touch the Auto-up pad on a Magnum 10, 15, or 20 Cannon downrigger, or our deluxe Digi Troll IV, and the reel pulls in the cable with an increasingly slower retrieve rate to place the weight just below the surface where it will not swing or get in the angler's way.

Regardless of your next destination, the Boat Depot folks have the Cannon downrigger just right for you. Whether going after hybrids in mountain lakes or Great Whites off the California Coast, you can trust the best in engineering and electronics to take care of the lure while you hopefully take care of the catch of a lifetime.

As the Western Front in France and Belgium stagnated into trench warfare in late 1914, British forces found themselves with no means of replying to the German minenwerfers (trench mortars) which were lobbing both small and large (over 100 pound) high-explosive shells into their frontline trenches from short range. British commanders requested an accurate short-range weapon which was manually portable in the trenches, could be safely used to attack enemy trenches as close as 100 yards to the British trenches, was easily concealed and projected a reasonably large explosive charge capable of damaging protected enemy positions. The British Expeditionary Force had been expected to participate only in mobile warfare and was not equipped with any mortars.

Various alternative designs for light and medium mortars were evaluated, prompted by the need to get at least some weapon into action without diverting manufacturing capacity from guns and howitzers, which were given priority. Hence the emphasis was on designs for both mortar and ammunition that could be manufactured by small unsophisticated workshops unsuited to other war work :

4 inch mortar

4-inch mortar bomb at the Imperial War Museum

A 4-inch mortar was the only official type to enter service before the end of 1914 (12 units). It fired a 8 pound steel bomb with studs to engage rifling grooves in the mortar barrel, similar to the German minenwerfer. The barrel was improvised by boring out a 6-inch shell. Its range of 900 yards and its accuracy was considered acceptable, but the shell case was expensive and was slow to load. About 40 guns and several thousand rounds were issued by June 1915, with 168 of the total 300 manufactured eventually serving in France. It was soon replaced by the 3-inch Stokes mortar in its "light mortar" class.

3.7 inch mortar

A 3.7 inch pipe gun was an early improvised mortar. 18 were initially made by the Indian Corps in France by December 1914. It was a smooth tube firing a 4 pound "tin-pot" filled with ammonal. The fuze was a length of Bickford fuze ignited by the burning of the propellant, which made it too dangerous for longterm use. By the end of June 1915 another 100 had been manufactured and sent to France and 20 to Gallipoli.

Vickers 1.57 inch mortar

The Vickers 1.57 inch trench mortar was first introduced to France in March 1915, 127 by the end of June, and about 275 were manufactured until it was withdrawn in January 1917 after being replaced by the 2 inch mortar. The 1.57 inch was similar to the eventual 2 inch model, but the particular Vickers design was complicated and expensive to manufacture. It fired either a 18 or 33 pound cast-iron bomb filled with Permite (perchlorate) , but the smaller bomb was considered too light and the heavier had a range of only 200 yards.

The 2-inch Medium Mortar

This was designed and manufactured by the Royal Ordnance Factories in early 1915 and introduced along with the 1.57 inch mortar in March 1915. It incorporated what was known of the German prewar Krupp mortar. This was the first design to meet all the requirements, after modifications to simplify manufacture : it fired a good-sized spherical cast-iron bomb of 42 pounds (total projectile weight 51 pounds with stick and fuze), considered the largest practical size for use from trenches, at ranges from 100 to 600 yards using a simple 2-inch tube as the mortar body; both mortar and ammunition could be cheaply manufactured by small unsophisticated "trade" workshops; the bomb was safely detonated by a standard No. 80 "time and percussion" artillery fuze. Drawbacks were that the steel tail was usually projected backwards towards the firer when the bomb detonated, resulting in occasional casualties; and the No. 80 fuze was also required by the 18-pounder field guns which were given priority, limiting mortar ammunition supply to the front until early 1916 when a special cheap trench mortar fuze was developed.

The 2-inch mortar served in limited numbers in France in 1915 from March, with early mortars and ammunition made by the Royal Ordnance Factory, alongside the Vickers 1.57 inch model. Mass production finally began with an order in August 1915 for 800 mortars from several railway workshops and agricultural machinery makers, together with an order for 675,000 bombs from numerous small firms. This led to the cease of manufacture of the Vickers model, which was twice as expensive, and its withdrawal by January 1917.

It fired a spherical cast-iron bomb "the size of a football" painted dirty white filled with Amatol (identified by a painted green band) or Ammonal (identified by a painted pink band) attached to the end of a pipe ("stick"), hence the nicknames "Toffee Apple" and "Plum Pudding". Weights of bombs as delivered without fuzes varied. Light bombs, from 39 lb 14 oz to below 40 lb 10 oz (18.09 to 18.43 kg), were marked with a stenciled "L". Heavy bombs, above 41 lb 10 oz to 42 lb 6 oz (18.43 to 19.22 kg) were marked with a stenciled "Hv". Hence the total fuzed weight with stick of 51 lb is only an average.

The 2-inch designation refers to the mortar barrel's bore and the projectile stick inserted into it, not the much-larger bomb itself which remained outside the barrel. It was comparable in explosive power if not range to other 4-inch mortars.

The 2-inch mortar was itself superseded by the Newton 6 inch Mortar from mid-1917 onwards. Some Australian units retained them for projecting smoke screens.

Combat use

Typical mortar pit, Mesopotamia 1917, with firing lanyard laid out. The bomb is fuzed.

Deployment

The weapon was initially operated by joint infantry and artillery detachments, eventually it became the responsibility of the Royal Field Artillery. A typical infantry division was equipped with 3 batteries designated X, Y, Z, each with 4 mortars.

Use in action

Its primary use was in cutting barbed wire defenses and attacking enemy front line trenches, such as in the July 1916 attack on the Somme. The spherical shape and relatively low velocity brought the benefit that the bomb did not penetrate the ground before exploding. The short range was a disadvantage as it could only be used if no man's land (between the British and enemy front line) was relatively narrow. It was used to fire some White Star (50%-50% chlorine and phosgene) gas bombs during the Battle of the Somme but only as a stopgap measure until other specialised longer range projectors became available.

Cordite charges appropriate to the required range were dropped into the barrel before the bomb was loaded. Charges and ranges:

1.5 ounces (40 g): 100220 yards (90200 m) (dangerous due to propensity for incomplete burn and hence to fall short)

2.5 ounces (70 g): 180340 yards (160310 m)

3.5 ounces (100 g): 300500 yards (270460 m)

The original design for igniting the powder propellant charge involved the insertion of a standard artillery "T friction tube" into a hole near the base of the barrel. However, the artillery service had a higher priority in receiving the already insufficient number of tubes, so ignition was changed to use a Lee-Enfield bolt mechanism and chamber screwed into a socket in the top of the barrel near the base. A special blank rifle cartridge was loaded and fired via a long lanyard from a sheltered position if possible due to the risk of bombs falling short. This ignited the propellant charge and launched the bomb.

In early use it was situated in frontline trenches but this tended to attract enemy fire onto the troops manning them. Standard procedure became to locate the mortars separately from frontline trenches, in unoccupied trenches or in saps running off the frontline. This had the benefit of drawing enemy fire away from troops manning the front line.

Estimated rounds required for various targets, with instantaneous percussion fuze 107:

Fuze No. 107

Cutting barbed wire: 1 round per 10 square yards (8 m)

Cutting loose wire: 1 round per 6 square yards (5 m)

Destroy trenches frontally: 5 rounds per yard

Destroy trenches in enfilade: 2.5 rounds per yard

Destroy a machine-gun emplacement with top cover not more than 3 feet of earth: 80 rounds

Silencer

Provision was made in mid-1916 for attachment of the "Temple Silencer" at the muzzle, intended to reduce the flash and noise generated on firing, which at the short ranges the mortar operated at was quickly noticed by the enemy and invited artillery response. This required the use of bombs with a special piston attached to the tail which was retained in the barrel by the silencer on firing, and hence sealed the muzzle after the bomb tail left the barrel. This had the major disadvantage of causing the barrel to overheat during prolonged daylight firing, and the silencer was only used at night.

Use as anti-tank mines

British Mk V tank disabled by anti-tank mine, Ronssoy October 3, 1918. Unexploded bombs are visible

In Spring 1918 many of the by-then obsolescent bombs were buried on the Western Front under metal plates as anti-tank mines in expectation of attack by German tanks. This led to some later confusion as to whether unearthed bombs were unexploded mortar projectiles ("Duds") or undetonated mines.

These minefields were inadequately documented. This caused the British problems in the closing months of the war when they had to advance again over territory they had previously abandoned, and also prevented full clearance of the minefields after the war. This led to some French farmers being blown up in the 1930s when they started using tractors e.g. around Gouzeaucourt.

Toy Train Sets - Why Are They Popular?

Author: Gen Wright

The popularity of these train sets can be attributed to several factors. One factor is that toy trains can be assembled and constructed. Children or adults who like to tinker with things and to construct objects make these trains very popular among them. This also helps young kids develop their minds, creativity, and critical thinking abilities.

Parents also love to buy trains for their children because it helps them teach their kids the importance of being patient, working hard, and making progress. It is very effective because trains need a long time to be assembled but after working hard, children are able to enjoy the results of their efforts.

Some children's trains also come in colourful designs and interesting sounds that suit children of different gender and ages. For instance, they feature large colourful parts which are safe and attractive to the eyes for the very young children. They can build and construct the trains and they can also disassemble them quite easily without parents worrying of hurting themselves. Toy trains are not only boys' toys but girls can also enjoy them as well. Train sets for girls usually come in bright girly colours and have girly designs like flowers or hearts and girl dolls.

Adults also like to collect toy trains such as wooden trains or the popular model Hornby trains. Wooden trains are popular because of their simplicity while Hornby trains are famous for their intricate designs and details. Hornby trains are made of state of the art metals and high quality clockwork machines. These are considered as collectibles and are sold to collectors in online shops or toy collectible shops.

For train collectors, their pastime sometimes does not have an explanation. They just feel that exhilarating rush when another train set was added to their growing collection. Just seeing them is enough.

It is also a fun toy because children can have a role playing activity as travellers and passengers which will make them develop their social skills and interaction with other children. It will also develop their imagination since they will make up places for their trains' destinations and they will imagine scenes where the trains will pass.

It is really a fact that toy trains are very important part of everyone's childhood memories. Even adults who consider themselves young-at-heart love to receive train sets for Christmas. Not only this, but trains can also teach children so many valuable lessons and virtue without them knowing it and without you making so much effort. This is the reason why little boys and girls and even adults love to have or collect toy train sets. It cannot be denied that toy trains have become an integral part of one's childhood.

Cast Iron, Solid Brass and Bronze Registers and Grills - Finding Them At An Affordable Price

Author: Kohn Coleman

Popularized in the late 1890's and early 1900's, cast iron grilles and register covers came in many shapes, sizes and colors. These heavy duty cast Iron vent covers and grilles were stylish and functional. Made completely of iron, they were made to stand the test of time - never denting or collapsing under pressure as most modern light brass covers often do. Characterized by Victorian style swirls and precise geometric patterns, the vent covers soon became objects of art and were often stolen or sold at auction.

What is the difference between a register and a grill? A register comes with directional louvers while a grill does not. Also, these can come drilled or plain. Drilled grills or registers have holes for mounting screws and can be secured to a wall or ceiling - and they provided extra security when screwed into a floor. Registers with Louvers often add quite a bit to the price and are seldom needed - so consider the use of a grill instead of a louvered register and it will save you money - saving upwards of 55% off.

These vent covers can be found on open markets such as eBay, but finding an entire set that matches is difficult - especially when you take size into account. Don't dispair, though - genuine reproductions can be found online - allowing you to replace these original Grills and Register covers. Not only will they enhance the beauty of your home or business, they will add value to the buildings, too.

Democracy Monument, a Striking Attraction in Bangkok

Author: Pushpitha Wijesinghe

The Democracy Monument, an imposing Western-inspired creation located in the heart of the Thai capital Bangkok lays claim to a turbulent and eventful legacy. Undoubtedly a striking monument, it is considered to represent the consolidation of liberty and democracy in Thailand. It was created by order of Field Marshal Plaek Pibulsonggram to commemorate the military coup of June 1932 which was to lead to the creation of Thailand's first democratic-oriented constitution replacing rule by absolute monarch.

The focus of the monument is a sculpted replica of a palm leaf document box which contains the 1932 Thai constitution; this element is placed on top of a couple of golden bowls which surmount a circular turret. The constitution is symbolically protected by four structures which resemble wings, which signify the four main divisions of the armed forces of Thailand - the army, air force, navy and police which were responsible for the coup of 1932.

The wing-like structures stand at an impressive 24 metres; the radius of the monument's base also corresponds to this measurement. This figure commemorates the date of the coup, 24th June. Similarly the three metre high central turret represents the customary Thai calendar's third month which corresponds to June. Initially 75 small scale cannon were positioned around the monument's outer ring, representing the year of the coup, which is identified as the year 2475 in the traditional Buddhist calendar. Facing out from the bottom of two of the wings may be seen fountains which take the form of nagas, the snake-like guardian figures which have their origins in Buddhist and Hindu mythology.

At the monument's base may be seen relief sculptures which portray Thailand's armed forces as the Thai people's personification and as champions of democracy. In these reliefs civilians are depicted as the grateful beneficiaries of the armed forces' benevolence and heroism.

Although the political environment in Thailand at the time of the construction of the monument cannot be truly described as democracy, in later years the Democracy Monument was the site of numerous major pro-democracy rallies, giving it a sort of legitimacy it initially lacked.

For the seeker of a fine Bangkok serviced apartment there is no better choice than the Grand President Bangkok. These Sukhumvit apartments offer comfortable accommodation with modern amenities providing excellent services for its guests.

Tower Defense Games

Author: IC

Internet games are famous because of the variety of applications that can found at any given time in gaming sites. Card games are for the most part popular among the older crowd, those who are a bit younger often prefer games which have a lot more action and shooting involved, these two characteristics can also be enhanced by maze game types. A clear example of this mixture can be found in tower games such as Ant-Buster.

This game is quite entertaining due to the fact that you need to protect your cake from an army of ants who want to steal it from you. In order to protect your cake you are given many tools which will help you kill those ants before they take your cake away. The tools you are given are nothing less than the miniature cannons which can be upgraded by paying a certain amount of money that a player can earn by killing a number of ants before they reach them take away the cake.

When you first start the game you are given the choice of how and where to place your cannons, placement is actually critical in this game, if you play by placing your cannons too far away from each other you will be risking loosing several slices of cake because each cannon works within a specific range which means that they can't shoot any further unless they are upgraded. Each upgrade costs a certain amount of money and these upgrades are gradual, if you want to be able to combat the huge amount of ants which I will be going your way you better be prepared by upgrading your weapons because the more ants you kill the more will be coming your way and the more resistant they will be.

As you start this tower game each ant will only resist five damage points, this means that if you have a cannon which is firing shots which will affect four points you only need to clean shots at the ant in order to kill it, as the game progresses these ants will need to receive many more shots in order to be killed for instance about 15 minutes in the game you will notice that each ant's resistance is a well over 300 points so you will need a very strong weapon in order to destroy them, you will notice that they can only be killed by the group of weapons you have placed across the field, the key to the game is always the placement of your cannons and how constantly you upgrade them.

In each and every upgrade you are given several choices, so you must take a look at the features each upgrade has for instance some upgrades will make you a lot faster but not too strong, while other upgrades will make your shots very effective but they will only be fired after a certain amount of time making the weapon quite slow, these slow weapons are always needed because they are effective but you will also need fast weapons as you advance from level to level. Make sure to take some time to understand how you can win this game by upgrading your weapons, otherwise you will end up with no cake fast.
